About me
For me, to make art through my music really helps in creating structure and resolving thoughts in my head. A lot of the time my lyrics don’t really delve into any politics, largely because I think its quite arrogant to expand on something which you yourself don’t know a lot about. My lyrics often come from a personal place as I believe it creates a lot more inspiration for creativity. Not to say that all my work is sad and comes from a depressing place, in fact a lot of it is also influenced by the old Britpop standard of writing about a made up story, as this also can create a lot of new ideas to be explored.
I think for me personally, writing music is the best expression of my feelings and thoughts; when I write words down I find that I can say a lot more than if I tried to speak my mind face to face. I think this is also the same for a lot of people, and perhaps if I can help someone else who struggles with opening up to others then that is a blessing in itself. Art is subjective of course, and sometimes something that I have written which I don’t believe to be of a high standard will be praised by someone. And the flipside of that is true: often I’ll be very proud of something and some will like it, others wont. But for me that’s the beauty of it.
If we all had the same opinion of art then the world would be a very boring place I think. If we all just liked the pop music that’s played on the radio these days, then all lesser enjoyed genres like metal and psychedelic music would be out the window. That’s also why I like to try different genres of music, as it will allow people with different tastes in music to perhaps enjoy what I do. And in doing that if I can introduce people to genres they’ve never listened to before and get them to enjoy it, then that also is a positive
